The SMWW Basketball Ambassador Program is designed to help SMWW students and SMWW alumni discover opportunities and expand their network in professional basketball.
SMWW will post job and internship opportunities with professional basketball leagues in North America including the ABA, IBL, NBL, D League, WNBA, and the NBA. We will also help all SMWW graduates obtain contact info for informational interviews when having difficulty reaching someone on his or her own.

SMWW students & graduates who are interested in working in professional basketball should:

Gain NBA experience through the Digital Video Editing Course and the Basketball Ambassador Program

SMWW, the SMWW Basketball Ambassador Program, and SMWW Basketball Ambassador Directors David Greenidge and Josh Keith-Url are happy to announce that SMWW graduates now have a relationship with the New York Knicks! Students in the Digital Video Editing course will now gain NBA experience as part of their final project! The final project will be a video breakdown of a draft prospect for the Knicks draft preparation.

Mark Warkentien, New York Knicks Director of Player Personnel:

"This is a win-win-win for all involved as SMWW helps students gain actual NBA experience as part of the course, the Knicks get some aid in draft preparation, and SMWW students get NBA experience to put on their resume!"

Sports Management Worldwide Forms Relationship with ABA

Sports Management Worldwide and the SMWW Basketball Ambassador Program are pleased to announce a new partnership with the ABA!  The SMWW Basketball Ambassador Program is designed to help SMWW students & alumni to discover opportunities and expand their network in professional basketball.  ABA franchises will benefit by gaining access to trained, motivated, and passionate entry level interns and employees like you.  SMWW will benefit by increasing the ability of our students to get their "foot in the door" of the sports industry.  And most importantly, YOU will gain access to opportunities in professional basketball in your area following your SMWW course!

"Interns are an integral part of the ABA business program," stated Joe Newman, ABA CEO.  "With nearly 90 teams this season, we have virtually hundreds of opportunities for young people studying sports management and sports marketing to gain on-the-job experience in things like press/media relations, community relations, game day operations, marketing of sponsorships and tickets, making speeches to local organizations and many other things.  The relationship with a fine organization like SMWW fits beautifully."

For more information regarding the SMWW Basketball Ambassador Program and our partnership with the ABA and how it can benefit you contact Program Creator and Director David Greenidge (dgreenidge@smww.com) or Co-Creator and Assistant Director Josh Keith-Url (joshu@smww.com).

SMWW Basketball Success Stories:

Rick Sanchez – Owner of Las Estrellas de Chicago ABA franchise

My business background and passion for sports led me to the Athlete Management course with SMWW.  That course was extremely valuable as it teaches exactly what you need to learn to be successful in the sports industry.  Not only is the training great but the opportunity to interact in the chats with a group of people from all around the world with diverse backgrounds is something you won't get anywhere else.  The SMWW family is a great circle to be in and is very supportive of its students in helping them pursue their dreams of working in sports.  The Basketball Ambassador Program is a great extension of that support as it connects SMWW students to a wealth of opportunities in pro basketball.   This partnership with the ABA will be great for both the franchises and the students.  As an owner I know what SMWW graduates have learned and that they have invested in improving their ability to reach their dreams.  With over 90 teams the ABA offers a wealth of opportunities for SMWW students to gain hands-on experience applying the knowledge and skills they have learned.  One of my goals as an owner is to develop my employees by having them work in multiple areas of the organization whether that is player development, sponsorships, sales, or marketing.  You really get to create your own limits in the ABA.  Because of this it is an excellent way to get your foot in the door of the sports industry and gain the experience to help you further your career.

Eric Misunas – Business Development Coordinator

SMWW and the ABA have both helped me change careers into the sports industry.  The resources provided in SMWW courses were extremely valuable in giving me the confidence to pursue a career in sports and preparing me to do so.  The ABA is great because there are teams everywhere so you don't have to move to break into the sports industry.  My time as the Assistant GM for the Carolina Jaguars was an excellent experience.  I was able to do a little bit of everything for the franchise and really use the things I learned at SMWW to contribute.  Having SMWW and the ABA on my resume has really given me confidence in interviews and expanded the opportunities available to me.  The SMWW Basketball Ambassador Program makes it easier to find that next step towards your dream career and this partnership with the ABA is only going to make it easier!

Allen Millican – Lead Camera Lion Vision, University of North Alabama Athletics

The ABA has great opportunities for people looking to break into sports and gain valuable experience.  Following my SMWW courses I became the Digital Media Coordinator for the Nashville Soul.  But the beauty of the ABA is that was not the only thing I got to do!  I got to help with sales and sponsorships too.  SMWW really prepared me to help right away as everything that was taught in class was immediately put to use with the Soul.  My experience with SMWW and the ABA have boosted my confidence in interviews and pursuing opportunities.  Having SMWW and the ABA on my resume helped me get the job I have now!
