The question of “How to become a Soccer Agent” is one that many soccer fans ask. Becoming a soccer agent is all about your connections and an understanding of the role of an agent. An agent needs to be able to recruit players, market clients, negotiate contracts, and prepare players for their post-playing career. As of January 2023, all soccer agents are required to take and pass the FIFA agent exam in order to represent players. Taking a course like the Soccer Agent course taught by FIFA agents is a great launching point.

What are the requirements to become a soccer agent? The only requirements for becoming a soccer agent are registering for and passing the FIFA agent exam. If someone has been previously registered with FIFA as an agent, they may be exempt from taking the exam. For those candidates who are not exempt from taking the FIFA football agent exam, the first step to obtaining a license to act as a Football Agent is to submit an application via the FIFA Agent Platform. Certain eligibility requirements must be met. Check the FIFA Football Agent Regulations for further details.

How much do soccer agents make? Agents can sign representation contracts with any player over the age of 18. Players under the age of 18 can only sign a representation contract with a parent or guardian's signature included as well. A typical agent will make anywhere from 3-10% of the player's contract value. Agents can also make up to 25% commission on any sponsorship deals. The average salary of an agent depends on the player, league, and contract negotiated.
