SMWW Courses Taken: Sports Administration
Hubert Register’s relationship with SMWW started immediately after ending his 15-year professional basketball career, hanging up his sneakers for good in Paris, France. After completing a Masters's in Sports Management at the University of Creteil in 2011, he assisted in the reorganization of the administrative and operational management structure for one of his former teams. Hubert teamed up with SMWW and completed the Sports Administration Course while completing his Masters. That team and organization had its two most successful seasons with Hubert as a player, and at the helm in the Front Office.
A 1995 graduate of Northern Illinois University, College of Engineering and Engineering Technology, Hubert was drafted by the CBA’s Rockford Lightning in 1996. Discovered in the Chicago NBA sanctioned Summer League that same summer, Hubert decided to take his career abroad and joined the French professional club team, Levallois Sporting Club Basket (LSCB). Today, known as Metropolitan 92 (Mets 92). In only his second year as a professional, Hubert would help lead that team, the youngest ever in French history, to win a National Title. Hubert and his teammates would forever leave their mark on French basketball, inspiring thousands of French youth to take to the hardwood, spawning the Tony Parker and Joakim Noah generation.
Hubert has since continued in a leadership role, providing insight into U.S. based principles and practices of American sports management and operations. During the launch of the international sports management program in 2016, Hubert held the position of Athletic Director for three years at INSEEC U. (Paris XVI), a private elite business school (Omnes Education/2021). Managing a divers portfolio of projects over the years of high profile clients in basketball and the entertainment industry, since 2019 Hubert has worked with professional soccer at the FC Lorient soccer academy (France). Hubert’s goal is to continue to create relationships and sustainable partnerships between foreign entities, French sports academies, and club-team organizations.
Hubert is the owner and managing director of HFR Consulting, a sports and entertainment consulting firm specialized in cultural liaison services and global strategic business development.
Hubert would like to continue his involvement and contribution to the development of Sports Business as a global industry by creating strong alliances for professionals, corporations, brands, and businesses, seeking market entry opportunities in the European Union through France.
Hubert’s priority today is the consolidation of his experiences, network, and knowledge, for the positive development of international Sports Business.
“Sport is the one modern common denominator that remains the most powerful vector of communication through the creation of unique and rare content, across every demographic segment that exists. No matter what your origins are, what language you speak, your gender, or socioeconomic status, you can identify with the powerful influence sport can have, has had, and will have, in your life. Finding motivated and qualified staff and personnel that get it, remains one of the biggest obstacles an organization must overcome! The people at SMWW GET IT! Get in touch with us, and get in the game!”
