Biography

Wilmer Oviedo is originally from Venezuela and currently resides in Mexico City, Mexico. He is 54 years old and serves as the Director of Operations at Hilton Mexico City Reforma. Baseball has been a lifelong passion for Wilmer, as he has played the game since childhood. Although his aspiration to become a professional baseball player did not come to fruition, he has remained closely connected to the sport.

Through his long-standing involvement in baseball, Wilmer has built meaningful relationships within the professional game. A close friend, Luis Sojo—who enjoyed a 13-year career in Major League Baseball—invited him to attend several games during his time with the Seattle Mariners and later with the New York Yankees. Wilmer has also visited José Alguacil, a longtime friend, former teammate, and current infield coach for the Kansas City Royals. During a visit last year, he had the opportunity to watch several games at Kauffman Stadium.

Wilmer is very pleased to be nearing completion of the GM & Scouting Course. He values the exchange of ideas, enjoys learning from others, and is committed to continuous improvement. He looks forward to fully leveraging this opportunity by acquiring the tools and resources necessary to become an effective scout and contribute to the discovery of future Major League Baseball players.
