Dr. John McGurk is a renowned thought leader in behavioral science and human capital strategy, with over two decades of experience leading workplace development initiatives across the UK and internationally. He currently serves as the Lead Consultant at WorkHead, a behavioral-based people development consultancy focused on transforming organizational cultures and performance through evidence-led approaches.
With a PhD in Economic History and Labour Market Research from the University of Glasgow, as well as an MSc in Behavioural Science from the University of Stirling, Dr. McGurk combines academic rigor with practical, impactful strategies. His groundbreaking research on sleep and workplace performance underscores his passion for translating behavioral insights into real-world outcomes.
Throughout his career, Dr. McGurk held leadership roles at the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), where he served as Head of Policy and Insights for UK Nations and Regions, delivering research-driven HR strategies and advising on workforce development, talent analytics, and employee wellbeing.
As a Sports Management Worldwide (SMWW) Global Ambassador, Dr. McGurk brings his expertise in people development, behavior change, and leadership strategy to help aspiring professionals break into and thrive in the sports industry.
