Happy Holidays From Dr. Lashbrook

Ring In The New Year With Our Sports Agent Work Shop!

Dear Sports Fans:

The holidays are a great time to give thanks and reflect on the year that was. We've had many successes, and the New Year promises more great things. One of them is SMWW's annual Sports Agent Workshop, which will be held February 24-25, 2006, at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

This is a tremendous opportunity for anyone aspiring to be a sports agent. You'll network and learn the inside scoop on the upcoming of NFL Draft and create valuable relationships with key individuals from all sports. Speakers range from million dollar endorsement deal makers to NCAA officers to certified agents in football, basketball, baseball, hockey and soccer.

I've worked in sports all of my life and I've worn a gazillion different hats. I wouldn't trade being president of SMWW for anything. We are a difference maker in the lives of athletes and sports professionals everywhere. Our global network of Agent Advisors is transforming the athlete management profession, and SMWW students are consistently finding placement in a very competitive sports market.

Whether it's by attending our workshop or enrolling in one of our many online courses, we hope you'll give us a chance to make your sports dreams come true in 2006.

May you all have a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah and Happy Kwanzaa! Sincerely,

Dr. Lynn Lashbrook

President, Sports Management Worldwide

SMWW Job Placement

A Record Of Achievement Second To None

Does working in college or pro sports sound too good to be true? We're here to tell you it's not. In fact, many current and former SMWW students are celebrating the holidays with new careers in sports.

Sports job placement has become second nature for SMWW. We're always hearing from alums thanking us for getting them a foot in the door and a step up the ladder.

Last month we told you about Sports Business Management student Andy Hollander, who first landed an internship within the athletic department at NCAA Division One Norfolk State University and was recently hired by the Durham Bulls Baseball Team. This month we heard from another SMWW student, Brian Goldman of Tennessee. Brian took our sports business course in hopes of advancing his career in training and fitness.

Says Goldman, who now works for Harvey's Gym: "Thanks for everything over the past couple of months. My experience with SMWW has helped me out greatly. It has given me many ideas I look forward to using in the fitness industry. Thanks again for everything and have a great Christmas."

Brian and Andy aren't alone. SMWW alums are emerging with sports careers every day. Sports Business Management students Jerry Howard (Salem/Keizer Volcanoes), B.J. Cardin (Kansas City Brigade), Jeffrey Rucker (Florida Firecats), David Allendorf (Spokane Shock), Ryan Plito (Omaha Ak-Sar- Ben Knights) and Josh Bannister (August Lynx ) are all proof that our training works.

SMWW believes the best way to prepare individuals for the sports world is through hands-on teaching from experts in the field. That's why we have professionals like renown NFL scout Russ Lande facilitate our Football General Manager and Scouting Course. And it's why SMWW President Dr. Lynn Lashbrook, also an NFL agent, personally mentors students taking our Athlete Management 400 Course. It simply makes sense for students to learn from those who have succeeded and are willing to share their insight.

All of our courses are eight weeks long and taught online. You can take any of our classes from anywhere in the world! All you need is a computer and an internet connection. We'll provide the expertise.

No matter what your sport, we've got something for you. Our vast course offerings also include Soccer Management and Scouting, Basketball General Manager and Scouting, Hockey General Managing and Scouting, Auto Racing Management, and Sports Broadcasting. We've even got a New Era Athletic Director Course that is perfect for anyone trying to succeed as a high school or college AD in the 21st Century.

Whichever course you decide to take, SMWW will get you opportunities. We have a proven track record. Just ask Sports Business Management grad Joey Seymour, who is now working in the majors for the Los Angeles Angels. Or former Area Scout for the Kansas City Royals Jon Weil, who assisted in the development of our Baseball General Manager and Scouting Course, and is now the Manager of Minor League Operations for the Colorado Rockies. Paul Epstein and Mandy Love are already interviewing with the NBA's Los Angeles Clippers and WNBA's Houston Comets.

Everyone we've mentioned has one thing in common: they all took our classes and are now working in sports. So can you!

Your goal this Holiday Season is simple: treat yourself or a loved one to a career in sports. SMWW courses are gifts that keep on giving for a lifetime.

Sports Business News Roundup

Agents Joust For Trojan Duo

Sports Business Journal's Liz Mullen reported recently about the stiff competition among agents to represent USC standouts Matt Leinart and Reggie Bush. Mullen reports: "NFL quarterback agents Tom Condon, Leigh Steinberg, David Dunn and Mike Sullivan are four of five finalists to represent Leinart, his father, Bob Leinart, confirmed." Leinart's father wouldn't say who the fifth finalist was. Some say Leinart is also talking with Hollywood talent firm Creative Artists Agency about off-the-field representation.

As for Heisman Trophy winner Bush, sources say he's narrowed the field of agents to six. That list reportedly includes Condon, Steinberg and Dunn, as well as agents Eugene Parker, Joel Segal and Todd France.

Mullen adds: "Sources also said the fifth agent competing for Leinart is Gary Wichard, who has also been mentioned as a candidate to represent Bush. Wichard, however said he is not a finalist to represent either player."

Morris Cleared To Play For Kentucky Despite SFX Relationship

Jeff D'Alessio of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution recently reported that the NCAA has "reversed course" and reduced Kentucky Wildcats star sophomore Randolph Morris ' season-long suspension to 14 games. The NCAA had previously declared Morris ineligible for the season because of his relationship with the sports agency SFX while he unsuccessfully tested the NBA draft waters.

Though there was no explicit verbal or written agreement between Morris and SFX, the NCAA initially ruled that the player had a relationship with the firm while preparing for the draft. However, Kentucky made available to the NCAA a fax Morris sent to Wildcats coach Tubby Smith at the time. The fax reads: "My intent is not to obtain an agent so as to maintain my collegiate eligibility." Click Here For The Complete Article!

Low Profile Agents in Demand

Press of Atlantic City sports writer David Weinberg recently wrote on the differences between low profile sports agents and those agents like Drew Rosenhaus who are constantly in the headlines.

NFL agent Brian Mackler, who represents Philadelphia Eagles Sheldon Brown, Mike McMahon and L.J. Smith, says: "Agents have to realize that we're not the stars. .... I don't need to be on TV and radio telling people how great I am. That's not my role." Eagles’ kicker David Akers, who has been through 3 agents, says: "I needed someone who can help me with contract issues, but I also needed more than that. As players, sometimes we just need a pat on the back or someone who can be a sounding board." Click Here For The Complete Article!

Sports Training In The Cyber-Classroom

The Boom Of Online Education Is Here To Stay!

SMWW is passionate about the sports agent industry and the role we're playing in changing it. We are equally as passionate about the role of online education.

The San Francisco Chronicle recently reported on an online education conference that concluded that the online education market is rapidly growing and is seven times bigger than the online-music market. Spending for online education at all universities is expected to top $6-8 billion and go as high as $10.4 billion by 2007. Some 35 percent of all online students now attend for-profit colleges. Higher Education.

SMWW has always maintained that online courses and programs are able to offer students so much more than a traditional classroom. Students are able to process the course material at their own pace and then participate in weekly chats with SMWW sports experts.

“Students who have never taken an online class before are always amazed the first time they enroll,” says SMWW President Dr. Lynn Lashbrook. “The eight weeks are such a blast that many of them comeback and take more of our courses. There has always been this perception out there that in order to learn something properly, you have to go to a campus and sit in a traditional classroom. That’s the old way of doing things. I always tell students that they can drink beer and wear pajamas in my classroom.”

SMWW’s online training is able to reach and teach students in all corners of the earth. In terms of effectiveness, nothing compares to the cyber- classroom.
