Soccer scouts need to know how to objectively scout players from youth to pro leagues all over the world. They also need to know how technology is affecting the soccer and football clubs budgets. With this course you will learn two main things: To Professionally Scout Soccer/football players and professionally manage a soccer/football club. Every successful business, including the business of soccer, has a success formula. This course will teach you the successes and failures of the most successful clubs in the world.

Shep Messing (pictured here with famous soccer player Pele & legendary German player and coach Franz Beckenbauer) is a Harvard graduate and two-time All-American soccer player. He began his professional playing days as the net minder for the New York Cosmos, playing along side the likes of world-renowned players such as Pele, Franz Beckenbauer and Giorgio Chinaglia.
Following his tour with the Cosmos, Messing was the first player to sign with the Major Indoor Soccer League; he played with the New York Arrows from 1978 thru 1984.
Mr. Messing was also on the U.S. team in the Pan Am Games (1971), in the 1972 Olympic Games and with the US National Team. In 1993, Messing was inducted into the New York Sports Hall of Fame, in 2006, the Nassau County Sports Hall of Fame and recently, served on the Board of NYC2012.
Today Mr. Messing serves in the New York broadcast booth for Madison Square Garden and ESPN International. Messing's broadcasting career began in 1986 calling action during the World Cup in Mexico. He worked as the color analyst for ESPN's coverage of the 2006 World Cup in Germany.

He also serves as consultant on projects incorporating soccer stadiums and fields here in NYC, for FIFA, the Federation Internationale de Football Association and for CONCACAF, the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football.

This is available via any online computer with a microphone. This allows ample opportunity to network, ask questions, and discuss openly with instructors and fellow classmates. If you are unable to attend the chat they are archived and you can listen at a time more convenient.
Online Education - This innovative academic course is facilitated through a web-based educational delivery system. You will enjoy the online discussion boards, weekly readings, weekly quizzes, course project, and interaction amongst fellow sports business minded students and faculty. The Future of Scouting- Learn the latest technology
Several clubs and teams are using new software and hardware devices to enhance their scouting process. Scouts can chart shots, assess players on quickness and effort, and record comments without missing a key play. Immediately after the game, the scout's report, including soccer/football player’s assessment, are sent via Internet, rather than the traditional method of writing everything down on paper.
This allows clubs and organizations to gather and access information on players 24 hours a day from anywhere. By eliminating the mounds of paperwork associated with the scouting process, scouting has become more efficient and data is collected and shared much easier.
