I was a Pro Goalie for 21 years and had to retire suddenly due to an injury, without any direction concerning my future career. I was immediately impressed with the SMWW concept and felt that enrolling in their educational programs could be greatly beneficial to my professional future off the ice. SMWW online education is the way of the future bringing the sports world together. SMWW chats provide an excellent forum for the exchange of ideas and relating of experience, and networking with people from all over the globe. I have just completed the Agent Management Course and will stay with SMWW as an Agent Advisor. I have also enrolled in the Hockey General Manger Course and am looking forward to the guidance of SMWW and EJ Hradek. I wish I had come across SMWW 10 years ago. Dr. Lashbrook is a great mentor with impressive knowledge and leadership.

Mentors Harry Sinden, Mike Oke, and Instructor Dr. Lynn Lashbrook:
The name Harry Sinden is synonymous with hockey. Harry Sinden needs no introduction. He is as legendary a figure of the Boston Bruins, as is Bobby Orr or Ray Bourque. He was a long time coach and general manager of the Original Six team. He has played the game at every level, coached at every level, and managed at every level. Harry Sinden knows every facet of the business side of hockey because he has lived it. If you want to learn about working on the inside of the NHL, Harry Sinden is the answer. Students speak directly each week with Harry Sinden. After successful completion, add Harry Sinden as a reference on your resume.
Harry Sinden was the long-time general manager, coach, and president for the Boston Bruins. He was the coach of the Team Canada during the 1972 Summit Series. He is a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame in the builders category. In 1972, Harry Sinden became the Boston Bruins GM and would spend just over 28 years as general manager of the Bruins. Harry added the title of club president in 1989, and remained as the chief executive of the club until the summer of 2006, and has retired to his current consulting role with the Bruins. As GM, Sinden presided over the team's long years of consistent success, setting the North American major professional record for most consecutive seasons in the playoffs with 30, which including making the finals five times (1974, 1977, 1978, 1988, 1990) and two regular season first place finishes (1983, 1990).
Currently, Sinden is a "senior adviser" to the Bruins, as well as a member of the selection committee for the Hockey Hall of Fame. As a coach and General Manager, he has been part of a Bruins Stanley Cup championship, six Conference titles and ten Division championships and his Boston teams combined for 29 winning seasons. With a 7-4 Boston win at St. Louis on October 17, 1995, he became the first general manager in the history of the NHL to record 1,000 victories and his all-time record as a GM stands at 1170-763-301 for a .591 winning percentage.
The Hockey GM and Scouting Course includes a one hour live audio chat with Harry Sinden and other hockey classmates once a week for the eight week course. You will love his sense of humor and historical perspective of the game.

SMWW has forged a partnership with RinkNet Scouting software company to provide its Hockey GM & Scouting students training with the top level of scouting software on the market. RinkNet has been producing scouting software for National Hockey League teams for the past eleven seasons. Currently 29 NHL teams and 42 Canadian Hockey League teams use Rinknet including the WHL, OHL and QMJHL. In addition Hockey Canada, U.S.A. Hockey, NCAA Schools uses the program plus several European Elite teams, USHL clubs and other scouting services. A total of over 1,200 scouts use Rinknet on a daily basis. Students in SMWW's course will be required to learn the ins and outs of the software as a part of the course training. Adding that you have experience with Rinknet on your resume is a huge asset.
"It's exciting to think that our graduates will be coming out of the course with the ability to use a system that is being used in the NHL every day," says Dr. Lashbrook, President of SMWW. "This partnership and unique training opportunity not offered anywhere else in the world, makes our graduates more valuable to clubs and allows them to walk right in and help the club immediately."
Upon completion of Rinknet training, interested students are eligible to be paid on a per game basis to videograph games near them. RinkNet will pay out of pocket expenses (travel, admission to game and mailing costs to send videos in).
In addition to Rinknet, students will receive training, and instruction with Steva Hockey video analysis software. Steva Hockey is used by many of the major and minor league hockey teams. STEVA Hockey Software allows coaches to easily analyze video of games and practices. Teams regularly use Steva Hockey to create and save short video clips that can be used for all of the following:
* Developing team and individual play through visual feedback
* Scouting opponents and recruits
* Improving the quality of practices through visual feedback
* Presentation of custom movies
* Creating team video "albums"
Many of our graduates, some prior to graduation, have been asked by their local team to video and scout potential players. Adding Steva Hockey experience to your resume is an added benefit to your resume.
"After much research into a Video Editing software program to utilize as part of the curriculum for our Sports Management Worldwide Hockey GM and Scouting course, it was evident that StevaSports was the best choice. We were looking for a program that would keep our students on the cutting edge of technology used in the hockey industry and that they could use to gain hands on experience that would make them more attractive to teams filling positions within their Hockey Operations department. After speaking with General Managers, Coaches and Scouts from junior, college, and professional teams around the world, it was clear, that knowledge of StevaSports would do just that and open up doors for positions that might otherwise be closed. We are very proud of the fact that a number of our students have secured positions with the hockey industry at all levels including the NHL, AHL, ECHL, OHL, NCAA, and CIS thanks in large part to the experience they gained using StevaSports while taking the Hockey GM and Scouting course."

I have had a busy and successful career in music for most of my adult life but I was always a huge hockey fan and began educating myself on the nuances of the game long before I knew I was doing it. When I stumbled across SMWW something clicked and I saw an opportunity to channel my passion for and knowledge of the game into a possible career.
The SMWW course was amazing; I learned so much about the history of the game and about the events in hockey history which served to shape and define the landscape of the modern game and the labor issues which have confronted it recently. The weekly chats were also great and I thoroughly enjoyed talking with my fellow students and firing questions at the scouts who moderated the sessions. Their insights were invaluable in helping me to decide that I could be a successful scout. The SMWW course gave me the confidence to pursue a career in hockey and now I am the California/Western U.S. Regional Scout for the Kootenay Ice Hockey Club of the Western Hockey League.
