Course Details
The Sports Administration Course is an 8 week online course designed to provide skills aspiring sports business executives seek. This might be for a job as an athletic director, executive director or commissioner. Internship, Practicum, Apprenticeship, and “Hands On” Experience:
Each SMWW Sports Administration graduate will participate in a short term job experience. This will vary for each student based on their career goals and location. The internship program is designed to prepare you for work in a variety of settings including non profit sports and athletic organizations. Job experiences could include shadowing FIFA personnel, or working with a high school or university athletic department, or assisting a national organization with a grant writing proposal. The opportunities are endless. The instructors for the course will work with you one on one to determine which “job experience” would be most beneficial for your individual situation. SMWW will assist each of you with securing the “job experience” or, current career advancement project within your current job. This unique opportunity gives each student the necessary hands on experience and will enhance their career skills portfolio with the guidance of the SMWW instructors. This “experience” is the highlight for many students trying to get their foot in the door.
Weekly Audio Chats:
A unique aspect of each 8 week course is the opportunity for students to participate weekly in interactive audio chats with fellow students, instructors and renowned guest speakers. This is a tremendous opportunity to network within Sports Administration and get to know your instructors and fellow students personally via the internet. This is available via any online computer with a microphone. The connections and synergies via the audio chats will be a sports networks that you will utilize throughout your career.
The course's main objective is to develop a new generation of Sports Administrators by teaching skills and strategies that are unique to sports administration jobs.

Sports Administration course instructors, Dr. Jim Krause and Dr. Lynn Lashbrook:
Dr. Jim Krause, President of Winning Sports Programs, brings a wealth of experience to anyone wanting to go to the next level in sports administration. Jim’s diverse background as athletic director, coach, and professional sports general manager, event coordinator, sports administrator, education consultant, and faculty, enables him to guide and train you for any situation. Jim's Sports Administration job history and experience span the globe and include: The University of Oregon, NABC Convention & NCAA Final Four, DGI (Sports Association of Denmark), 1996 Olympics, Alabama A&M University, University of Alabama, GM of the Huntsville Fire (professional sports team), Title IX Consultant, YMCA, NAIA National Office and management of major events such as concerts, championship tournaments and professional sports. Jim has worked in numerous athletic departments including the small high schools, to large universities, as well as minor league venues and boys and girls clubs. This experience in multiple departments and situations and his years of wisdom are unmatched.
Jim is determined to assist you in managing your sports venue or athletic program to be the best it can be. Jim’s success includes budget management and fiscal fundraising. He will share his years of know-how in hiring and firing, academic accountability and community relations, booster clubs and ticket sales, event programming and school spirit marketing. Most recently Jim has worked as a consultant to a variety of schools across the nation to re-inspire tired and financially challenged sports programs. You will love working with Jim and learning from his knowledge.
Dr. Lynn Lashbrook President of Sports Management Worldwide has served at the collegiate level as a coach, scout, recruiter, athletic academic advisor, compliance officer, and athletic director. He was an Assistant Athletic Director at the University of Missouri, before becoming a Director of Athletics at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville and University of Alaska-Fairbanks. He turned down the AD job at Western Michigan University so he could begin developing his own sports management company. As Athletic Director, Dr. Lashbrook improved athlete graduation rates, increased ticket sales, bettered school participation in athletics, initiated and successfully completed a Student Recreation Center, established the first ever NCAA athletic exchange with Russia, and achieved record levels of fundraising and alumni donations. During his administration he had recognized programs in collegiate hockey, football, basketball, baseball, track, rifle, and women’s sports. Dr. Lashbrook understands the importance of ethical leadership and power of the podium and bringing out community spirit through sports. In 1985, Dr. Lashbrook served as President of the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics.
