The Motorsports Management Course will provide an introduction into methods and skills necessary to run a racing team in the highly competitive industry of racing. The Motorsports Management Course will also cover issues including the history of racing around the world, current developments in series and championships, endorsement basics, supplemental revenue for drivers, sponsorships, and basic concepts for spotters and team managers that wish to obtain the best results out of their race team and their drivers. Students will understand the day to day tasks performed by a race team and gain the understanding of overall management of both on track and off track personnel. All graduates of the course will have a well-rounded understanding of the motorsports business industry, specifically in the areas of grass roots management, sports marketing, personnel, customer service, promotions and event management. The Motorsports Management Course will cover all the major issues that professional racing faces today; winning, social and ethical issues to the more traditional media, sponsorship and business matters. Be it at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway or Fundidora Park in Mexico, Motorsports Management will assist you in cutting edge skills auto racing teams use. Course Details The Motorsports Management Course is an 8 week online course designed to provide skills aspiring motorsports business executives seek. This might be for an entry level job in the motorsports industry or it might be to enhance your current career in motorsports. This course can be taken at any time and any place around the world to fit your schedule. All you need is access to the internet with a computer. SMWW has met with hiring motorsports personnel and determined what skills and strategies they require in a new hire to determine the course content. Internship, Practicum, Apprenticeship, and "Hands On" Experience: Each SMWW Motorsports Management graduate will participate in a short term job experience. This will vary for each student based on their career goals and location. The internship program is designed to prepare you for work in a variety of settings including at the racetrack, for a team, in media and public relations, or ticket and sponsorship. Job experiences could include shadowing NASCAR personnel, or working with your local speedway, or assisting a national organization with press releases or media events. The opportunities are endless. The instructors for the course will work with you one on one to determine which "job experience" would be most beneficial for your individual situation. This will be geared to the motorsports industry you are most interested. This unique opportunity gives each student the necessary hands on experience and will enhance their motorsports career skills portfolio with the guidance of the SMWW instructors. This "experience" is the highlight for many students trying to get their foot in the door.
