Tommy Smyth - ESPN Soccer Analyst
Irish born Tommy Smyth joined ESPN in February 1993 as a soccer analyst for ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPN International.
Smyth has one of the most recognizable soccer voices in the world as a reputable soccer analyst and is particularly known for his memorable trademark comments during games. His expertise on the soccer side of the game is unsurpassed. As a mentor in the Soccer Management & Scouting Course he will assist you with molding your career path.
He is an anchor of ESPN Soccernet Press Pass, ESPN International's global football roundtable discussion and is a game analyst for Italian Serie 'A', La Liga, the UEFA Champions League and FIFA World Cup qualifying matches. He is also a regular guest on Talk Sport (UK) and co-host alongside Rodney Marsh on Grumpy Pundits broadcast on SiriusXM.
Smyths list of credentials is extensive and has provides commentary and analysis on club and international soccer. He has covered numerous FIFA World Cups and Confederation Championships, including the EURO's Copa America, Gold Cup and African Nations.
Smyth has also provided studio analysis for ESPN2's World Cup 2Night, and ESPN & ESPN2's pre-game and halftime coverage. He is also knowledgeable onSouth American soccer and hosted Latin Futbol Weekly on ESPN2, seen in more than 200 countries via ESPN International (1993-99). At ESPN, he has called over 2,500 international matches from all over the world. Leading up to the 2002 World Cup he co-hosted ESPN International's "Road to World Cup 2002," aired in over 150 countries.
Smyth currently provides game analysis and telecast commentary for ESPN's coverage of MLS, international club soccer and confederation qualifiers.
Matt Martin is the Director of Domestic Scouting for the Portland Timbers in Major League Soccer. Previously, Matt was the National Scouting Coordinator for Sporting Kansas City.
Matt covers collegiate, USL, NASL and MLS matches in the USA. He co-ordinates and manges the efforts of a team of regional scouts for recruitment and advanced scouting purposes. As a mentor in the Soccer Management & Scouting Course, Matt will work with you one on one and teach you cutting edge skills used at the top levels.
Prior to joining the Timbers, Matt joined Sporting Kansas City in 2011 and covered the Atlantic Coast through 2014 following a few years scouting for The New York Red Bulls. He began professionally scouting with The Scouting Network (TSN) of Birmingham, England after completion of SMWW's Soccer Scouting and Management Course in 2007. Matthew, a graduate of the University of Washington, has a background in coaching athletics and has been an advocate for the integration of modern scouting techniques and Information Management infrastructure in US professional soccer.
Matt and the entire scouting staff of the Portland Timbers are graduates of Sports Management Worldwide Soccer Management & Scouting course. Matt knows who and which teams are hiring within professional and college soccer.
Tim Regan is currently Interim Head Coach for North American Soccer League's Indy Eleven.
Formerly a Scout with US Soccer Federation and former Chief Scout of Toronto FC and a former US U-18 Men's National Team Assistant Coach. Tim is aformer standout with Bradley University and was drafted in the 2003 MLS SuperDraft by the New York MetroStars. After spending 3 seasons with the MetroStars, Tim was released and signed with Chivas USA. After a successful season with Chivas, Tim was sent back to New York with the now re-named New York Red Bulls. Tim spent his final season in MLS with the Red Bulls. He played one MLS match with Toronto FC in 2008 after signing a ten-day contract.
Overall, Tim played a total of 81 games over five seasons and left the league as one of the most well-liked players to pass through MLS.
Steve Simmons isEuropean Scout for Aston Villa in the English Premier League.
His primary roles is to assess forthcoming opponents and evaluate players across the UK and Europe. Steve has previously worked for Birmingham City, Southend United, Bristol Rovers and Wycombe Wanderers and is a graduate from the SMWW Soccer Management & Scouting course.
Paul Molesworth is a former Chief Scout and current scouting consultant with vast experience of the English Premier League and Football League.
Previously Paul was Chief Scout for 2011-12 League 2 title winners, Swindon Town. He was also Chief Scout for Bristol Rovers, helping the club reach the Johnson Paints Trophy Final in 2006, followed a year later with a League 2 Wembley Play-off Final win and reaching a FA Cup Quarter Final in 2008. He began his scouting career working for Liverpool FC as Chief Scout for the Midlands area, a position he held for over 11 years.
Paul has worked as a Chief Scout through all levels of English football including Swansea City, Port Vale, Kidderminster Harriers, Greenock Morton, Luton Town, Mansfield Town, Oxford United and Northampton Town.
As a player Paul Molesworth was an accomplished left back making professional appearances for Walsall FC in England, Hamarun Spartans in Malta and AEK in Cyprus.
Scott Rezendes - Salary Capologist
Scott Rezendes is a current MLS club scout, former USL General, He was also the first employee of the Major League Soccer Players Union in 2006. His role gave him responsibility to manage player contracts and prepared agents and players for negotiations with the Major League Soccer office. He also has prior experience working with a sports arbitrator and is a consultant for European football teams regarding salary cap, player quotas and football finance issues.
The course facilitators will mentor and educate students with their vast experiences playing the game, managing the game, coaching the game and scouting at all levels of the game. You will finish the course with a new and diversified skill set in evaluating soccer talent, managing soccer organizations, and operating player personnel. You will also finish the course with an opportunity to build lasting relationships with the course facilitators and guest speakers in professional soccer worldwide. Not only will you have the "who you know", but you will have the "what you know!"
Weekly Audio Chats - A unique aspect of each 8 week online course is the opportunity for students to participate weekly in interactive live audio chats with fellow students, Tommy Smyth, Matt Martin, and guest speakers. This is a tremendous opportunity to learn from your course facilitators. In addition the chat allows you to network within the international soccer industry and build lasting relationships with your course facilitators and fellow students. If you are unable to attend the chat they are recorded and archived and you can listen at a more convenient time.
