SMWW Client Invited to Work Out for Dallas Cowboys
Ross WeaverSMWW client Ross Weaver recently participated in a private workout with the Dallas Cowboys at their Valley Ranch facilities.  Weaver was one of 9 players invited to the workout, which took place on October 4th and 5th.  Teams frequently will work out players to determine whether they can fill a current need, and Weaver might be able to fill a void in the Cowboy's secondary.

These workouts are high intensity and can be a stressful time for an athlete because they're fighting for limited space on a team.  Weaver arrived at Valley Ranch on the evening of October 4th and had his workout the following day.  He was shuttled from his hotel to the facilities to first meet with Cowboys training staff to fill out medical paperwork and pick up his workout gear.  Before the workout begins, measurements are taken by the Cowboys Scouting Department to keep on file for future reference.  After stretches and warm ups, Weaver was put through an hour long workout which involved an assortment of drills and a 40-yard dash.  After the workout was completed, Weaver was provided with lunch in the team dining room and then departed home.

While Weaver waits for a decision by the Cowboys to either join their practice squad or receive a contract offer, a call came in from the New York Giants with an offer to work out for them as well.  Weaver should know where he stands with both teams shortly, but clearly there is a high level of interest in his abilities.  Ross is co-represented by Agent Adviors Albert Thomas and John Oluyole.

SMWW Client Signs with AFL
Joe GoosbyA product of Tulane, Joe Goosby is a talented linebacker who recently signed a contract with the Dallas Vigilantes.  He was most recently a member of the San Angelo Stampede in the 2010 season and was a catalyst for their success, starting 9 of 10 games.  He was a major force for the Stampede in the playoffs, leading the team in tackles and snagging two interceptions.  After a strong showing in the IFL and continued improvement, the Dallas Vigilantes and the AFL came calling.

Goosby is represented by SMWW Agent Advisor Bryan Cimicata.  The two joined forces after Goosby turned to SMWW looking for the right individual to represent him and help him achieve his goals.  After contacting Mr. Cimicata, the two quickly decided the pairing was a good fit.  Bryan was struck by Joe's impressive character, along with his strong core values and principles.  For Bryan, its something that really catches his eye in an athlete.  Goosby will look to build off of his very strong 2010 campaign, showing the Vigilantes why they were wise to bring him in.

SMWW Agent Advisor Logan Jacobson Signs His First Client to the Utah Blaze
Utah BlazeWashington State graduate and SMWW Agent Advisor Logan Jacobson successfully signed his first client, safety DeWayne Patterson to the Utah Blaze.  Patterson is a Washington State product as well, and the Blaze were extremely excited to bring him in to add depth to the defensive side of the ball.  Prior to signing with the Blaze, Patterson played the previous two seasons with the Wenatchee Valley Venom of the IFL.  He is an extremely versatile player that has tenacity, savvy, and a broad skill set; commodities that any team would gladly invest in.

His Agent Advisor, Logan Jacobson, received his Bachelors degree in social science while also minoring in sports marketing.  Jacobson prides himself in preparing his clients not only for their athletic career, but also for life after sports.  DeWayne and Logan were acquaintances while attending Washington State through a mutual friend that played football, however they were reconnected after DeWayne turned to SMWW to search for representation.  Patterson came across Logan, a graduate of SMWW's Agent Advisor course in September of 2009, and contacted him about being his agent.  Logan wasted no time and immediately got to work.

He sent out Patterson's information to every AFL team and got a quick response from the Utah Blaze.  Negotiations progressed quickly, with Patterson and the Blaze agreeing to a basic contract for first year AFL players with added incentives for certain achievements throughout the season.  The Blaze were also impressed with Patterson's character off the field, which made the decision to sign him that much easier.  Look for big things to come in the promising careers of DeWayne Patterson and SMWW Agent Advisor Logan Jacobson.
