SMWW Grad Lands Baseball Operations Internship With The Atlanta Braves
SMWW Baseball GM and Scouting Grad, Ron Knight, recently secured an internship in the Baseball Operations Department of the Atlanta Braves. As an intern, Knight assists the department in all aspects of Baseball-Operations including Player Development, Player Personnel, and Scouting.  CAtlanta Braves Logourrently, he is helping with off-season preparation for roster moves, player transactions, and player acquisition strategies.

Knight took SMWW's Baseball GM and Scouting course in 2008 while also working on his Master of Business-Administration and Master of Sports Administration from Ohio University. In June 2009, Knight began working in baseball through a trainee program at the Gwinnett Braves (Triple-A Affiliate of the Atlanta Braves). It was there that he took the skills accquired through the SMWW course and applied them to work his way up throught the organzation.

Upon completion of the second half of the season with Gwinnett, Knight was approached by the Atlanta Braves and asked to interview for the Baseball Operations internship, a position that was never publically listed as the team was looking to hire from within the organization.

"SMWW assisted with the whole process because I took the advice of Maury Brown and Johnathan Story on how to go about networking and taking advantage of opportunities that others may not see," says Knight. "Gaining practical experience in Baseball-Operations can be difficult since it's not like I can walk over to an MLB club and scout for them. This course was a great addition to my resume because it exposed me to concepts, projects, and ideas that I never knew existed."

If you are dreaming of working in Baseball, sign up the for the Baseball GM and Scouting Course Today!
