Remote in hand, you watched a 30-yard running play live, but then hit the rewind button three or four times trying to understand exactly what happened.

This time I’m going to focus on the left guard. He pulled and sealed off the strong side linebacker.

This time I’m going to watch the tight end. He came in motion across the formation, then at the snap combined with the left tackle to neutralize a charging rusher.

This time I’m going to watch the fullback. He charged through the hole created by the pulling left guard, and sealed off the middle linebacker to the inside.

This time I’m watching the receiver. He dashed inside, determined to take out the safety charging in to make a play.

Now you can see how the entire play unfolded. Everyone had a role in the success, not just the elusive running back, credited with a 30-yard scamper.

If this sounds like you, comfortable not just watching the ball, but truly appreciating the orchestration and evaluation of plays, you've discovered a passion that you should explore deeper, and quite possibly turn into a job.

Many people watch football, they cheer, dress-up, tailgate and ride the emotional roller coaster of wins and losses. But most fans don't analyze the game in detail. They don't know why things happen, they just know that they do.

Then there are people who watch the game differently, they don't just follow the ball, they see the formation, the movement of the defense, hear the audibles from the quarterback and anticipate moves as they happen. That's a deeper knowledge, and an attention to detail that NFL teams want.mike stoeber jacksonville jaguars
