SMWW Sports Agent Workshop at NFL Combine

Maybe The Only Good Reason To Head Indianapolis In The Dead Of Winter

If you have any desire to become a sports agent or work in sports, we strongly suggest you join us at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis later this month where SMWW will conduct its annual Sports Agent Workshop February 25-26.

By attending this seminar, you will gain the kind of insight and tricks of the trade that come only from networking and rubbing shoulders with agents, former players and other athlete management professionals in the exciting atmosphere of the NFL Combine.

"This is really an unprecedented opportunity for newcomers to go behind the scenes and learn from veterans who've been in the trenches of this business for years," said Dr. G. Lynn Lashbrook, President of SMWW.

"Too many people go through life only dreaming of working in sports. If you would rather be working on Draft Day instead of watching ESPN and only dreaming about it, I strongly urge you to make the trip to Indy and let us teach you the ropes from the inside-out."

This year's conference features Fred Schreyer, the former Director of Sports Marketing for Nike who is renowned for brokering Lebron James' $90 million shoe deal.

KC Callero, a veteran basketball agent, will be flown in from Spain to teach the ins and outs of the European market. KC has negotiated contracts in over 10 European countries and currently has over 20 professional players.

The conference will also welcome personnel from two professional teams and feature many of the SMWW staff.

Please don't miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, especially if you're just a stone's throw away from Indianapolis. "It will change your career forever and for the better," says Lashbrook. "I guarantee it."

Sports Revenue Management Course

A Foot In The Door And A Step Up The Ladder

SMWW gets your foot in the door with a sports organization through our Sports Revenue Management training program. In eight weeks you will learn skills and strategies not covered in any college course.

Simply put, individuals who take this course will be catapulted to the top of the hiring lines because they have the specific skills and training that teams look for when hiring new employees.

Tom Leip, instructor of SMWW's intensive eight week Sports Revenue Management Course, believes that the best way for individuals to get in on the ground floor of a sports organization or franchise and work their way up the ladder is through sales.

"Ticket sales will guide your way into an organization," says Leip. "You have to be involved in generating revenue in order to work your way up. ... If you want to someday be a decision maker inside a sports organization, you simply must have experience generating revenue. Sports teams desperately need employees who know how to grow their fan base and increase their market share. And ticket sales are the best place to start for individuals with little or no experience."

Leip also notes that the sales route is an easier venue to get started in because no degree or prior skills are required. "Other areas in an organization require certain skills. In sales, not only is a lack of a college degree not a problem, the sky is the limit in terms of how far you can climb. In public relations or media relations, there is a ceiling. By beginning in sales, individuals will gain the kind of experience team executives are looking for in future decision makers."

Among other things, Sports Revenue Management will teach you advertising and strategic branding, successful promotional techniques, front office operations, high tech 21st century sports revenue programs, and how to build trust with clients and fans.

Students will be assigned a course project with a nearby collegiate or professional organization, which can be completed in 20-40 hours. The experience gained will be invaluable, and many of you will stay on as permanent employees. At the end of the 8 week course, our staff will work to secure you in a job with a collegiate or professional sports team.

With the help of Tom Leip, SMWW currently has students completing projects and working for prominent professional franchises such as the Washington Redskins, Houston Astros, NY/NJ Metro Stars and New England Revolution. So can you!

Working for a sports franchise doesn't have to be a fantasy any longer. Take our Sports Revenue Management course and let SMWW get you a foot in the door and a step up the ladder!

Sports Broadcasting Course

Learning Play-By-Play Has Never Been Easier And More Practical

SMWW is offering an accredited online Sports Broadcasting course which is both educational and practical in its application. Under the tutelage of SMWW instructors Sally Sullivan, an experienced sports agent and attorney, and Rick Burk, the voice of the Triple A Sand Diego Beavers, learning the ropes of this medium has never been easier or more practical.

"In addition to the educational approach to the course, we also apply a practical side as well," said Sullivan. "We have aligned ourselves with TEAMLINE; live play-by-play and more (www.teamline.cc). This site allows our students to set up a broadcast schedule and then actually perform a "play-by-play" broadcast for their favorite sports team. In addition, we teach our students how to set up a broadcast/internet website, offering them ideas of how to gain sponsorships, generate advertising, and even to make some money fundraising from their broadcast."

From radio play-by-play to web casting over the internet, this course offers a revolutionary insight into television, radio and the internet. Sports Broadcasting also covers the basics of creating leads and beat reporting, as well as how to initiate promotions and sponsorships.

Sullivan believes this class is a tremendous opportunity for students to learn the art of broadcasting while also helping high school and college programs with their fundraising efforts. "We believe every high school and college athletic director will be interested in this class due to its educational/practical format, for students and parents."

Do you dream of someday calling a game in the big leagues? Do you ever find yourself muting the TV to do your own play-by-play?  If so, our Sports Broadcasting course is beckoning you. Come enroll today!
