I just completed my first season as the Video Coordinator of the Los Angeles Kings. It was after my first season in the internship in Columbus Blue Jackets that I took your course. I feel like I gained knowledge about the scouting and management side of the sport that I would otherwise not have known had I simply just gone through the Video Analysis side.

Digital Video Editing course is an excellent way to get your foot in the door as a video coordinator. If you look at most NBA teams basketball operations staff, At least 4 staff employees started off as video coordinators on every team. Now there scouts, director of player personnel, and GM's. For me personally, I got a job with Synergy Sports Technology as a Phase 2 logger. I break down College and NBA clips and log them in to there program. Overall this class was an excellent way to learn Digital Video Editing and to find a job in what I love to do. I would reccommend this to anybody that's interested in being a video coordinator for a college or pro team.

I've learned a great deal when it comes to Digital Video Editing in this course. It was challenging at times and very interesting throughout. I really like Synergy Technology and I hope I can start working with them in the next couple of weeks. My favorite part was breaking down the game!

The SMWW Sports Broadcasting Course was an excellent experience. SMWW Grad Covers Beijing Olympics:
SMWW Sports Broadcasting Grad, Don Oyao, had the summer of a lifetime reporting for KCXL Integrity Sports at the Summer Olympics in Beijing. Through his affiliation with Seychelles National Olympics, Oyao was able to travel the world consulting as a sports doctor and in his spare time, reporting on the games he attended.
For three months leading up to the Summer Olympics, Oyao covered events in St. Petersburg, Russia, Bologna, Italy, Cairo, Egypt, Paris, France and then finally the Olympics in Bejing. Every Wednesday, Listeners in Kansas City, MO heard Oyao's take on international competition and the events of the Olympic Games.

I do not believe there is a better way to gain exposure to this much substantial material in a shorter period. You simply cannot effectively learn more in less time. Also the Audacity training tool is a gift that keeps on giving being that it can be used for the rest of your career as a broadcaster.

I am an engineer at General Motors. I am on the Athletic Booster Board and help run the basketball and football concession stands in addition to being the official scorekeeper for our home basketball games. Our school just had its first annual Tailgate Party to kick off the sport's season in which I was the chairperson. Dr. Krause has brought his considerable skill and expertise together with a positive vision for program development at our High School to provide for real change in the conduct of our athletics and activities programs. We were already under investigation by the Office of Civil Rights when Dr. Krause arrived. He immediately took control of the situation by determining how we could meet Title IX compliance and then formulating a history and future plan. Through local and regional surveys, facilities up-grades and re-allocation of the same athletics moneys we were able to provide the Department of Education with a satisfactory historical report and a plan for full future compliance.

Jim Krause eased the pressure for an EISL championship run. We have professional athletes from all over the world and Jim eased cultural friction and allowed the athletes and agents to feel comfortable working with the Fire management team.

My first head coaching job was the conference door-mat. With Jim' Krause's help, I changed some staff, focused on our younger player's development and devised a daily, weekly and yearly plan for success. We have had three straight seasons of improvement and a .500 record.

Dr. Krause brought alot of insight from personal experience into the discussions. What he had to share was always pertainent and useful. I enrolled for the Soccer management and scouting course with no classroom or formal training in soccer. My soccer experience was from the streets and stadiums of West Africa and the little I gained when I was part-timing as a sports journalist. Though I have a very demanding work schedule (I work twelve hours a day) I decided to go for the soccer management and scouting course so I can help the young folks in my country develop their soccer talents. Since day one when I started the course there was no turning back! I have not only learned a lot about tactics, discipline and scouting but also the management aspect of the game. Derek was very helpful and always at hand to answer our questions. After graduating from this course I would definitely recommend it to all of my friends.

The Soccer Management and Scouting course was a key for me to get into the business side of soccer. A lot of teams look at the course as a plus when you trying to get a job. In addition to scouting Florida for The Scouting Network, I'm about to get a job as a soccer reporter in South Florida for a news website. The material you learn about soccer in this course you won't find in any sports management school in the entire country because sports management degrees in the U.S. are developed without soccer being in mind. You definitely need this course if you are serious about soccer.

I enrolled on the SMWW Soccer Management & Scouting Course as I wanted an insider's perspective on the world of soccer. The course was very comprehensive, with weekly assignments covering key topics like the ethos & philosophy of a soccer club, different playing styles from around the globe, my own dream team, transfers, and the sport's relationship with the media. However, the main focus was on analysing a player from a set match, a team and a goalie in order to write a scouting report. This took up three weeks. The assignments were no push-over and I had to do a weekly study plan so as to submit them on time. Course resources were well written in clear & plain English, supported by diagrams.A DVD was also supplied for the scouting simulations. In addition there was a weekly chat session with a senior professional scout, Derek Bragg. Derek was able to answer any queries as well as give general support. He also kept us all on our toes with his questions! Despite the course expectations, I found following the course fun. In our interactive classroom there were students from America,Africa, Mainland Europe & the UK and it was interesting reading their postings and finding out about Football from different cultures. My footballing poems went down a treat,too! Now the exams are done & the course is over, its time to go out into the field and scout for real. Derek has offered follow-up support with this, & I now feel I have a good foundation, as well as having an insiders perspective on the world of soccer.

This was not the first time attending an on-line course with regards to sport industry. I dare to say though, that SMWW provided an opportunity that I haven't experienced before; interactive chats with my fellow students and expert teachers. This unique experience not only made me think even more positively about the on-line education, but also it gave me the chance to exchange views with people from all continents who share the same passion: soccer. The course was very well organised, addressing specific issues from the soccer industry as a whole. Various concerns or inquiries about the course have been easily and quickly resolved not only with the collaboration of tutors, but also with the very helpful "behind the scenes" SMWW staff. Although my passion is football/soccer, having completed the Soccer Management & Scouting I would not hesitate to enroll myself to another course as well, since the quality of SMWW' courses can ensure a career in the sport industry in general. The Soccer Management & Scouting Course was more like I was receiving on the job training. I will recommend anyone serious about getting into soccer management to enroll for this course. My soccer management consulting company and academy will greatly benefit from what Derek Bragg and fellow students shared with me during the course. Soccer all over the world lacks proper management and every effort must be done for administrators in soccer to attend this fantastic course.

At first I was hesitating on taking online courses. I am young and had never experienced online courses. SMWW called and totally encouraged me. I did not get to attend much of the Sunday online classes with the teachers and all the other students because of the time difference. But all the chats where available in the website for the students that couldn't make it in the Sunday chat. The information that I gathered from the books, the website ,outline from the teachers, and answers to the questions from other students enhanced my knowledge . In addition, the research I had to make for some of the questions helped me understand where to get information, and how it works. Most importantly, this course lets you know how to evaluate a player, a team, and gives an idea of how to outline your report which I found very interesting even though it wasn't the easiest part for me. In short, at first I was hesitating, but after two weeks I was loving it all the way from the books to reading other students posts.

With the experience and advice of Derek Bragg you can learn a lot about how the business side of soccer works from an insider's perspective. Plus you get a weekly network of individuals from around the world to learn from and share experiences with. I would recommend this class to anyone who is currently in the soccer industry, is interested in getting involved in the soccer industry, or anyone that just loves the game and wants to learn more.

I wouldn't be where I am without my time with SMWW. Tom Blattler is one of the biggest reasons for my success in motorsports. Tom does PR for Acura Motorsports so he's a giant in the industry. At the end of the course, I found an opportunity with the Penske Racing organization who also owned a subsidiary, the Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix. I interviewed with a man who knows Tom very well, so that connection paid dividends right away. I was named Communications Associate at the Detroit Grand Prix. Things were going very well until the economy crash which Michigan had been feeling long before the rest of the country. The race was canceled and I looked to Tom for guidance. After once again sitting in on several of the weekly chats and getting some advice, I found an opening at the Homestead Miami Speedway and landed the job. I love my job and Tom has been with me every step of the way and I cannot thank him or the SMWW enough.

The sponsorship and marketing aspects of this course have allowed me to define the skill set that I have been in the process of establishing over the past 12 months, in motorsport environment. Furthermore, my understanding of NASCAR has now grown, so I can now appreciate motorsport events and their inherent management practices, from different parts of the world.

I decided to pursue my passion by taking the SMWW Motorsports class. The course has taught me a lot and above all introduced me to a unknown part of the sport I've followed for so long, and the thanks to that goes to Motorsports facilitator Tom Blattler. With his mentoring I was able to infiltrate many parts of motorsports I never was able to be a part of before. I feel very privileged to have been given the opportunity to meet and introduce myself to such an inspiring and knowledgeable individual such as Tom. As busy as he is with the happenings at Indy Series and the ALMS, he has taken the time to invite and provide me with credentials to experience on a first hand basis the operations that take place at a race weekend. Along with this chance Tom provided me with the opportunity to expose myself to the shakers and movers of the sport, which in return hopefully will deliver an opportunity to join the industry. The Indy 500 is amongst the biggest events in the world of motorsports, and how beautiful is that one of your students had the chance to watch the race from the pit lane amongst the biggest stars in the world. That happened to me on Memorial Day weekend, and it is all owed to this course and Tom. It was a privilege to join both Tom Blattler and Jim Utter for the motorsports class audio chats every week from my computer. I wanted to say thank you for creating this opportunity. After completing the SMWW Hockey GM and Scouting Course, I attended a sports career fair. There, I met the Human Resources Coordinator for the Tampa Bay Lightning. We discussed the changes that the team had undergone during the off-season, and she mentioned that new General Manager Brian Lawton had hired two Hockey Operations interns upon his arrival. I immediately began discussing the training I'd received from SMWW and my strong interest in entering into Hockey Operations. I sent a copy of my final course paper to Tampa. Within a few days, the Hockey Operations Coordinator contacted me and learned about my background, including the scouting techniques and Collective Bargaining Agreement analysis that comprises the GM and Scouting Course. He was impressed, and I began a half-season internship in January 2009. Completing projects to assist the team in future preparations, as well as observing the GM, Assistant GM, and Hockey Staff every day, allowed me to gain phenomenal insight into the day-to-day operations of an NHL Front Office. The Hockey GM Scouting Course was an unbelievable learning experience for me. In my eight weeks of taking the management and player scouting course it helped me to take what I knew from playing the game of hockey my whole life, and applying the skills I learned throughout the course and putting them into a package to help me enhance my trade into the scouting world of hockey. The Hockey General Manager course gave me the opportunity to learn and explore the fundamentals of Pro-Hockey. Now, when I watch an NHL game I refer to as “a front stage,” because we admire those who have the ability to fill arenas. Most of us, rarely think about those individuals who work in the “back stage”. Those “back stage” individuals are responsible for bringing a premium production to the ice.

The discussion board was my favorite part of the course. It was nice to be evaluated by classmates. We all have a little something different to offer and I think we all encouraged each other and taught each other something. The career conference in Columbus was amazing and if SMWW goes to the draft in Ottawa next year I will attend. It was a great way to meet new people and network.

This is a course like I have never taken before. I have been in school almost six years, but this is by far the best class I have ever taken and the one class that I actually remember the information I have learned. Having the opportunity to talk with ISS scouts was a great opportunity and the RinkNet software gave me the chance to see how real scouts do their work. I was a Pro Goalie for 21 years and had to retire suddenly due to an injury, without any direction concerning my future career. I took this course because my ultimate goal is to be a coach in the NFL. I needed more knowledge and football experience and learn some of the things a football organization goes through.I am currently talking to the Arizona Cardinals about maybe doing an internship for camp and maybe something with media relations during the season. I took the football GM and scouting course in fall 06/winter 07 because I was finishing coursework for a minor in athletic administration. I gained alot of good insight into the art of scouting, insight that helped me advance in my profession. Particularly what measurables were most important in scouting a player at each position. I also became familiar with language and acronyms used in scouting athletes. Currently I am coaching LB's at Western Washington University. I left Oregon State University in March of 2008 after serving a year as the offensive graduate assistant to use my new skills.

I took the Football GM and Scouting course because I've always loved the game. I enjoyed the reading material both the Baseball and Football courses offered. Also, the discussions were very thought provoking. The best part was being able to post at any time, from any place. The scouts I interviewed were very eager to impart their knowledge and experiences to me. Overall, these courses were intense but rewarding. I am a High School math teacher and basketball coach. When this past high school season ended, I was anxious to keep basketball season going besides just watching the NBA games. One day on the web I came across this basketball course from SMWW. I was very skeptical at first, but I thought that it may open new doors for me. The results have been fantastic.
