| When It Comes To Sports Job Placement, We're #1! |
 |
|
SMWW's Sports Business Management Course is
a
great place to start for anyone wanting to get a
jumpstart in the sports industry and begin working
immediately. Instructors Bret Polvorosa and
Tom Leip
do an excellent job providing students a timeless skill
set which is transferable from industry to industry.
This one of a kind course is one of our most popular
because of its record of successful placement.
Aspiring sports professionals taking this curriculum
continue to be given the skills that businesses,
college and pro teams look for when hiring new
employees.
Former SBM student Paul Epstein, now an
Inside
Sales Executive with the L.A. Clippers,
recently wrote
SMWW about his new career in the NBA. Writes
Epstein: "So far, things have been awesome.
I'm
absorbing as much as I can, am extremely motivated,
and am generating revenue at or near the top of the
Inside Sales board. Thank you for allowing me to
access your network. I am now in the industry I
always wanted to be in and you definitely played an
integral role in that!"
Ashley Holstrom enrolled in the course at the
end of
her junior year at Western Oregon University while
interning for a minor league baseball team. She is
now
an Inside Sales Representative for the NHL's
Phoenix
Coyotes and NLL's Arizona Sting, and
credits SMWW
President Dr. Lynn Lashbrook with getting
her sports
career rolling.
"Dr. Lashbrook comes to Western Oregon
University
once a week to teach a Sports Management course
that really intrigued me, and my interest to the
sports business world really grew," says
Holstrom. "He
became my mentor and helped push me to figure out
what I really wanted to do in life."
After completing Dr. Lashbrook's course at WOU,
Ashley enrolled in Sports Business Management, and
discovered the convenience of online education.
"Learning online has many benefits," says
Holstrom. "It allows students to do it on their own
time because there isn't a strict schedule to follow.
Many people are working while going to school so
taking online classes gives them the flexibility they
need." Holstrom also notes that the online
format "allows people all over the world with different
backgrounds to communicate and give input from
their experiences."
Most importantly, SMWW and its Sports Business
Management course were instrumental with helping
Ashley land her job with the Coyotes. She says that
those wishing to follow in her steps should do the
same.
"It gave me the knowledge to set me apart in the
interview because I knew what I was talking about
and had a good base to start from. If anyone wants
to land a job in sports, SMWW is the way to
go!" Whether you are new to sports are
looking for
a foot
in the door, or are already working in sports and are
seeking an advantage to boost your career, Sports
Business Management is a perfect fit for you!

| SMWW Partners with RinkNet! |
 |
|
SMWW has forged a partnership with RinkNet
software company to provide its Hockey GM &
Scouting students training with the top level of
scouting software on the market. RinkNet's scouting
software and database system is currently being
used by the majority of the National Hockey League
teams and many Canadian Hockey League teams
scouting departments. Students in SMWW's course
will now be required to learn the ins and outs of the
software as a part of the course training.
"It's exciting to think that our graduates will be
coming out of the course with the ability to use a
system that is being used in the NHL every day,"
says Dr. Lashbrook, President of SMWW. "We think
this partnership and training is going to make our
graduates more valuable to clubs and allow them to
walk right in with solid training that can help the club
immediately."
In addition to teaching students how to evaluate
talent and actually write a scouting report, students
will now learn the next step which is recording the
information and managing the data. Many people in
the world of hockey scouting are able to judge
talent, but there is nowhere else in the world that
someone wanting to learn to scout can actually be
taught the scouting management system being used
by the NHL.
Whether you are currently working in hockey and
want to take things to the next level or you are
hoping to find a way into a career in hockey that you
can be passionate about, SMWW's Hockey GM &
Scouting course is the place to go!

4.01.2006 Poison Pill is hard

sheets by
some NFL teams which include a “poison pill” are a
classic example of how competitive spirits in sports
encourage creative circumvention of the intent of

SMWW Agent Advisors Making Waves |
|
|
|
Agent Success Stories
SMWW's global network of Agent Advisors continues
to grow and change the way in which professional
athletes get their representation. And many of them
were once just like you: eager, enthusiastic sports
junkies dreaming of representing the world's best
athletes. Now they are doing it for a living!
SMWW Agent Advisor Al Thomas has signed
Harry
Dunn, a 6-7, 340 lb. offensive tackle out of James
Madison University, and has signed him to a contract
with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football
League (CFL). Like many
SMWW Agent Advisors, Thomas, who has been with
us for just a short period of time, is enjoying the
fruits of being an agent and watching his client play
at the next the level.
"SMWW has been a blessing to me. I came on
board as an agent advisor six months ago and it's
one
of the best decisions that I have ever made. Thanks
to all the help and advice that I receive from our
staff, I see nothing but great success. Matt Brock
(SMWW's Director of Football) is a wealth of
knowledge and has great patience with new agents
getting into the business."
Additionally, Agent Advisor Alex Yam
represents
Geoff Husted, a 6-11 center for the CBA's Dakota
Wizards, who has just been named to the league's All-
Rookie team. "Representing Geoff has been so
great for me because I have learned so much and
developed a lot of good contacts. I owe a lot to Bill
Kent (SMWW's Director of Operations and an NBA
Certified Agent). He helped me sign Geoff and worked
several overseas deals for him before we eventually
had him sign with a CBA team. There are a lot of
great people helping new agent advisors and I call Bill
all the time to ask for his advice and utilize his
contacts in the business."
Imagine how exhillarating it is as a new agent to
sign,
represent and watch
your very own client achieve so much success in his
first season in a quality league! The great thing
about
becoming an Agent Advisor with SMWW is that it
doesn't take very long to see success. You need just
one client to become an agent.
Our Agents are representing clients in many different
sports and some are even working with clients
outside of the sports world. Take Lazo Gjurich
as an example. He is currently working with a
sports artist named Jacob Eisenhour who is currently
working on a montage piece of the Pittsburgh
Steelers to commemorate the Super Bowl
Championship team. He has also done a piece for
Allen Iverson of the Philadelphia 76ers
and that piece is currently on sale at the
Wachovia Center. Select this

"Jacob and I have been working hard to get his
work
into the hands of the right people and get his name
out there so that he can begin to choose his work
rather than the work choosing him. He is always
looking
for new projects and likes to work with people that
have an idea but are willing to let him use his art
insight to make a truly unique and one of a kind piece
of art, said Gjurich."I am really excited about working
with him in the future to help him continue to secure
deals with athletes and teams."

"Many times there is a snowballing effect," says
SMWW President Dr. Lynn Lashbrook, who is
also an NFL agent. "This is a referral business. I tell
kids that if you get that first client signed, more are
sure to come. It's really all about relationships. I got
Brian Dawkins as a client because I
represented his brother Ralph."
"Not only are we offering to train and educate
future
sports agents," says Dr. Lashbrook. "We are
also
offering them contacts and an agency to work in.
There is not another company out there which offers
aspiring agents so much for so little."
If you think you have what it takes, don't miss out
on
the opportunity of a lifetime. Give Dr. Lashbrook a
