SMWW Graduate Working for Cincinnati Bearcats
Maurice Jones

During the Spring of 2009, Kevin Maurice earned his Football GM & Scouting certificate with SMWW and is now enjoying life as a recruiting assistant with the University of Cincinnati football program. "This training gave me an in-depth look into NFL scouting, which has helped me become a great college recruiter."

Kevin credits the exposure he received through the course to helping him define himself in the scouting and recruiting world. "I could not have duplicated this in any other way," he says. With his experiences as an athlete, and now as a recruiter with the Bearcats, Kevin has the confidence to know that he will be successful in any setting using the skills that he now possess.

As a former high school coach and player in South Florida, he has credible ties within the South Florida football community which provides access to the nation's elite football prospects, "SMWW's Football GM and Scouting course has helped me to indentify and recruit the kind of athletes who will thrive at the major college level and beyond."

Sports Salary Capology

New SMWW Globe LogoAre you currently representing professional athletes or planning to do so soon? If so, you will more than likely be negotiating in a salary cap environment that is more complex than it has ever been. SMWW has developed the Sports Salary Capology course where Agent Advisors and students will learn to evaluate and analyze professional playing contracts. Salary cap analysis has changed the way sports franchises do business with sports agents in 2010 and beyond. Free agency in major sports leagues is equally as important to teams as their draft. Salary cap supervisors and sports agents are now working hand in hand to structure contracts, so that they are in compliance with all rules set forth by the Collective Bargaining Agreement. It is highly recommended that you begin preparing to understand this environment and all the mechanisms involved to help you and your future clients.

SMWW Sports Capology instructor J.I. Halsell discusses the salary cap implications of the recent suspension of Washington Redskins defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth.
J.I. is joined by fellow instructor Scott Rezendes who was hired as the first employee of the Major League Soccer Players Union in 2006. He managed player contracts and prepared agents and players for negotiations with the Major League Soccer office. Rezendes received his MBA in Sports Management from George Washington University in 2008. He also has prior experience working with a sports arbitrator. You will enjoy getting to know Scott and his wealth of contract knowledge.
Check out the recent appearance by J.I. Halsell on Redskins Live discussing the impact of Haynesworth & Portis on a Redskins 2011 salary cap

SMWW Client Signs 3-year Contract
Ronnie DrummerSMWW client Ronnie Drummer has signed a three-year deal with the Saskatchewan Rough Riders of the Canadian Football League.  Drummer had nearly given up on his football dreams, sacrificing his unfulfilled potential after getting lost in the mix of great football players competing for roster spots. After posting some impressive numbers and highlights during his time playing at Duke, Drummer had yet to receive a contract offer before signing with SMWW. The speedy running back is excited for a fresh start on the path to fulfilling his lifelong dreams.

Ronnie Drummer is represented by SMWW Agent Advisor, Joe Tyler
