Eventhough we are talking Final Four Basketball and not College Football,
remember how pathetic the BCS system is when it comes to fairness. Are any

World Baseball Classic a Homerun for the game Worldwide!

I give Bud Selig a lot of credit for launching the World Baseball Classic. Baseball is the type of game which, given the opportunity, can enjoy the same international growth as basketball. I predict MLB will have teams in Mexico, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Dominica Republic, Venezuela in my lifetime. American League, National League, and International League!

Does anyone doubt they would be competitive? Just think, a True World Series! And don't forget the Asian League with Japan, Korea, and China;)

FINAL FOUR VS. BCS

 

Someday we will have a playoff system in football just like basketball. Just think if Gonzaga had football they would never have a chance to go to the Final Four.  The president’s say it is because of too much missed class time? Who are they kidding?  You tell me how much missed class time basketball will experience the next three weeks. Oh, by the way, has anyone heard about online education? DA!

Barry will need a Bondsman after being booked!(npi)

In my opinion Barry Bonds will never be able to escape from the latest allegations. He will always have an asterisk (asteroid)* by his name forever. I continue to ask where were his teammates? Where was his agent? Where was the owner Peter Magown? Where was Donald Fehr? Where was MLB? Where were the media? Since Barry allegedly used steroids designed for cattle it would be appropriate for fans to yell “Mooo!” when he comes to the plate. This is a very sad chapter in baseball. The good news is baseball will be stronger (npi) than ever when Barry leaves the game. He may fool us with a wig but he can’t wiggle out of this travesty. Please Barry: Go out to Pasteur!

Sadly, Kirby lived in a vacuum off the field!

The passing of Kirby Puckett is a sad day for all of his fans. More sad is all of the allegations he had to take with him. As an agent, I wonder if his agent knew about his personal failings. Maybe the media will ask or maybe they would rather gloss over these concerns. I guess you could call it a double(s) standard! (npi)

Washington Post Sports Reporter Mark G. Asher was a friend!

When I was informed of Mark Asher's death I felt like a lost a friend, eventhough we never met in person. When I was actively involved in trying to lure the then Montreal Expos to Portland, Mark and I would trade stories daily on who was winning the race. The pleasure of knowing Mark was his sense of humor surrounding the politics of local leaders and baseball. It got to the point I would just call him to chat about family and life. In a sense he was truly the most worldly sports journalist I ever met. Yes, I believe you can know someone without meeting them in real life. I did and I will miss him.

World Baseball Classic is being mocked by the media in America!

For decades we have had the World Series in America but have never invited other countries (except Canada, eh!) to compete. It is embarrasing to listen to our sports media mock the WBC. Maybe if they were a little more worldly they would see the world is becoming flat and therefore a more level playing field. Global economy means Global Competition!

I suggest they read Thomas Friedman''s new book titled The World is Flat. It is a classic (npi).
